Gala Practice Complete: Freedom 2 Dance Is Ready for Castleford!
Excitement filled the room when our Freedom 2 Dance team came together for their gala practice ahead of our upcoming performance on Sunday 13th September in Castleford at the Smawthorne Welfare Action Team Gala. After weeks of hard work, commitment and preparation, our dancers came together for one big rehearsal — and what a brilliant day it turned out to be.
A Big Team Rehearsal
This practice brought together dancers from across our classes, giving everyone the chance to rehearse as one big team. With around 90 dancers needing space to move, practise formations and build confidence, having the right venue made all the difference.
From our youngest dancers to our teens, the rehearsal was a true celebration of what makes Freedom 2 Dance so special: different ages, different classes and different levels of experience all supporting one another. It was wonderful to see the dancers encouraging each other, learning from one another and sharing the excitement of getting gala ready.

A huge thank you goes to Cheryl and the team at the Roundhill Club for welcoming us and allowing us to use their fabulous function room. Having enough space for so many dancers is no small thing, and the room gave us exactly what we needed to rehearse properly, feel prepared and enjoy the day together.

We also want to say a massive thank you to our Friends of Freedom 2 Dance, who gave up their Sunday to chaperone and support our dancers throughout the rehearsal. Their patience, organisation and encouragement helped the day run smoothly from start to finish.
Volunteers are such an important part of days like this. They make it possible for our dancers to focus, feel safe and enjoy the experience — and we are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated group behind us. Quite simply, they are the best volunteers we could ask for.

And finally, to our dancers: thank you. Every single one of you brought enthusiasm, focus and team spirit to the practice. Our youngest dancer is just four years old, dancing alongside our teens, and seeing everyone come together was a reminder of why days like this mean so much.
We absolutely love rehearsals like this. They show the heart of Freedom 2 Dance: confidence, friendship, teamwork and a shared love of performing. Whether dancers are stepping onto the floor for the first time or have performed many times before, each person plays a part in making the team feel complete.

Now the practice is done, the excitement is building even more. Castleford, we cannot wait to perform for you. The dancers have worked so hard, the team is ready, and we are looking forward to sharing all that energy with everyone at the gala.
