Morley Glass Confirms F2D Sponsorship Funding For 6th Year

Morley Glass and Glazing Ltd, has once again confirmed that it will continue its sponsorship of Freedom 2 Dance students for the 6th year in a row.

Recently, Ian Short managing director of Morley Glass and passionate dancer, presented the scholarship awards to 40 F2D pupils at the studio based in Castleford.

For Laura and Michelle, principals of the dance school, the scholarship provides access to dance for all those wishing to develop dancing skills or simply to enjoy the experience.  The children enrolled at the school are identified for the scholarship programme by class teachers, who take into consideration the students dedication, commitment and of course, talent.

The Morley Glass sponsorship provides children with access to a varied programme of private lessons, street dance technique classes as well as workshops and acrobatic classes throughout the year.

This year the programme will be made up of 16 weekly Commercial Dance Industry classes, and an Acro Dance Choreography Class,  In addition to this there will be Ballroom and Latin workshops with industry professionals as well as a training programme for student volunteers that will enable them to gain official accreditations.

Opportunities To Achieve More Through Dance

Freedom 2 Dance places a focus on providing access to classes that for some children may be difficult to attend due to circumstances beyond their control.  The scholarship also is offered by F2D as a reward for those striving to achieve more with their dancing potential.

For Ian the benefits of dance became very apparent after he competed in a charity dance competition where he raised enough funds for a Sunshine Coach to be purchased.  Today, he regularly visits Freedom 2 Dance to carry on with his dance training.

He comments, “I learned through dance that it can be such a mental and physical release -for children who want to learn to dance but are unable to do so for financial reasons, the F2D scholarship gives them the chance to do that in a free and uninhibited environment.”

Laura and Michelle believe that the funding of students helps them to develop not just new skills but also confidence and self esteem which they can take forward through their lives.
