Friends of Freedom 2 Dance
Supporting Young Dancers, Building a Stronger Community!
At Freedom 2 Dance, we believe that every child should have access to the joy of dance, regardless of their circumstances. In 2019, our Directors, Laura and Michelle, alongside a dedicated group of parents, founded Friends of Freedom 2 Dance—a not-for-profit organisation designed to support families and children in accessing dance opportunities.
Governed by a committee of passionate parents, Friends of Freedom 2 Dance operates independently with its own community constitution and bank account, ensuring transparency and a strong commitment to our mission.
Our Two Core Aims:
1. To foster and maintain a strong community spirit, both within the studio and beyond.
2. To raise funds that enhance young dancers’ experiences, education, and opportunities—including providing essential equipment, costumes, and resources to support Freedom 2 Dance members.
Through fundraising efforts, sponsorships, and community-driven initiatives, we are dedicated to making dance accessible and enriching for all.

What We Do
Friends of Freedom 2 Dance is a community-driven group dedicated to supporting our dancers and enhancing their experience at Freedom 2 Dance.
Monthly Meetings – We meet on the last Friday of every month to discuss group business, plan fundraising events, and explore new initiatives to support our dancers.
Fundraising & Events – From hosting a monthly bingo draw to organising exciting fundraising activities, we work tirelessly to provide resources, equipment, and opportunities for our young dancers.
Subsidised Events & Celebrations – We collaborate with Freedom 2 Dance Directors to help make presentation events and parties more affordable and accessible for all members.
Event Support & Child Supervision – All our volunteers are DBS-checked licensed chaperones, assisting at major events so that the teaching staff can focus on the dance while ensuring the safety and well-being of all dancers.
We are proud to be a passionate and committed team, working together with Freedom 2 Dance Directors to make dance more accessible, enjoyable, and memorable for every child at Freedom 2 Dance.
Meet The Volunteers
Jennifer Smith
Role: Chairperson
Hi, I’m Jen, I have been a member of the Friends of Freedom 2 Dance Committee since it began 6 years ago and have held a number of roles over my tenure, however this year I have taken on the role of Chairperson.
I am looking forward to working with the team to bring you some new and exciting fundraising events, and continuing to support F2D Staff and Parents in providing the best experience for pupils. From funding coaches to & from competitions and events and contributing to the cost of performance outfits, to putting on presentation nights and part-funding guest workshops, our fundraising aims to lighten the financial load and make dance accessible for everyone.
Donna Bryan
Role: Treasurer
Hi, I’m Donna Bryan. I’ve been part of the Friends of Freedom 2 Dance committee since the very beginning. I first got involved to help raise funds for the dance studio and have enjoyed supporting various events like our Race Night and 8 Below Camp. I was also heavily involved in setting up and running our successful Bingo Draw scheme, which has become a fantastic fundraiser and is still going strong today.
In February, I proudly took on the role of Treasurer. I’m really looking forward to working with the team and continuing to support the dance school in the year ahead.
Rachael Jaggar
Role: Vice Treasurer / Bingo Co-ordinator / Volunteer Liaison
Hi I’m Rachael and have been part of the Friends of Freedom 2 Dance committee since it launched back in 2019.
This year I have three different roles that I am excited to pursue.
Firstly, I lead the monthly “bingo” draw which is a constant fundraiser for us as a group - but also gives opportunity to “give back” as we draw one winner each month. This is something I would love to extend to more members as this means more fundraising and a bigger prize fund! My second role is as vice treasurer, working alongside the treasurer, and finally my third role is as volunteer liaison - this role is to collate and put together a bank of people who would like to support the FoF2D by volunteering their time at events and fundraisers.
I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to raising funds and supporting F2D, its pupils and parents
Becky Cooper
Role: Events Co-ordinator
Hello, my name is Becky. Freedom 2 Dance holds a special place in my heart, so I’m thrilled to be part of the committee. Some might say I have a knack for the gab, and I’m putting that to good use by helping to fundraise for the incredible families and children at Freedom 2 Dance to have the amazing opportunities they deserve. This is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and seeing this unfold brings me immense joy and a desire to contribute more.
As an events organiser on the committee, you’ll see me around a lot, and we’ll have many conversations (lucky you!). But my goal isn’t just to sell you something; I’m here to get to know you and support your dance journey. If you see me around please say hi!
